Event Photographers in Dallas: Party like it’s 2022!

Event Photographer Dallas

It’s the week of Christmas, and the festive scramble is on. Most holiday parties are wrapped, people are finishing up deadlines and closing out projects. I for one am finishing up editing some shoots, like any good event photographer in Dallas. There’s the last minute, impulse shopping we all do when we realize we dropped the ball on someone on our nice list. Or is that just me???

Everyone is hurtling toward Christmas day - lights aglow, children’s eyes twinkling with expectation… and me, an event photographer in Dallas thinking about New Year’s Eve parties…. Sure, it’s like decorating for Christmas on November 1st (also me), but why does everybody gotta hate on the guy amped about the single best party day of the year?!

New Years Eve parties are the GOAT in my very humble but very expert opinion. What makes me an expert on the best types of parties? As an event photographer in Dallas, I’ve shot it all and so has my JWCannon team. Large parties to small, over the top to simple, talk-about-for-years-to-come and forget by tomorrow… truly, our work has taken me all over the party map. As we inch toward Christmas, that funky week afterwards and then into New Years Eve, I can’t help but get excited about the events our cameras will get to see.

Planning a New Year’s Eve party yourself? I feel inclined to offer a few tips and tricks for throwing a memorable party that people will anticipate all year long:

  1. Hire a photographer. Whether you have 50 guests or 400, hiring an event photographer in Dallas is critical. Why? The most obvious reason: you’re not a photographer. Put the phone down and enjoy the party you planned! Reason 2? Memories. Photographs capture a moment in time. They allow us to remember the feelings of a night, or of a friendship, or of an exceptional night on the town.

  2. On-site prints. I’m not upselling you on this one, promise. In our digital world, the pendulum has swung as it often does. People LOVE prints. Why? Because we have 27,000 photos on our devices and none that we can physically hold. Give a favor that keeps a person reliving your party.

  3. C-O-N-F-E-T-T-I!!! I was at an event just the other day that had confetti ‘snow’ (a true treat in Texas) in the beginning of the evening and bright streamers raining down at the end of the event. Let me tell you the glee on every person’s face. Confetti just brings a dazzle that can’t be beat.

  4. Great music. Music is the vibe. An event without good music is like a donut without a glaze. What’s the point, am I right? Be wise in who you choose to run music - whether a band or a DJ - just choose wisely!

  5. Fun Themes. You know what people love? Gettin’ all gussied up. You know what people REALLY love? Getting all gussied up ON THEME. Take the above photo for example - a Paris theme that really knocked it out of the park. Like music, a theme sets the tone for the evening.

  6. Surprises! I’ve seen it all - breakfast tacos arriving mid-party, magicians, drawings for super fun prizes, mariachi bands, anything that glows, dance floor props, side activities like games, photo booths… get creative, the people love it!
