Dallas Event Photography - Expect the Unexpected

Dallas Corporate Event Photography

Expect the unexpected.

It’s a phrase we’ve all heard, and I’d venture to guess… it’s a phrase that we’ve all experienced. THe unexpected is what keeps life interesting. Sometimes the unexpected is pleasant, like the random cold front we had yesterday in Dallas after weeks of 100+ degree days. Sometimes the unexpected is wildly favorable, like the Califorian who recently won the big lottery jackpot. And sometimes, the unexpected is the very opposite of pleasant and favorable. Sometimes it is problem-filled, painful and difficult to swallow.

The unexpected is part of life. It’s part of our personal lives, our professional lives, our social lives, our financial lives, our physical lives. Unless we learn to expect it, we are in for a lifetime of getting blindsided and surprised. When you expect the unexpected, you thoughtfully respond to situations instead of emotionally react to them.

Do you know that Dallas corporate event photography is just the same as life? Unexpected weather, unexpected last-minute event changes, unexpected day-of schedule changes, unexpected last-minute client needs like same-day headshots or videography - the unexpected list is truly endless, and it happens more often than not. If you’re not mentally prepared for it, you won’t be able to pivot, adjust and rise to the occasion. Can I give you a recent example? We had the unexpected happen just yesterday, in fact. Allow me to set the scene…

We had a Dallas corporate event photography shoot that was booked a few months ago for yesterday. The need was straightforward: a single photographer covering an awards event and celebration. We had the JWCannon Creative photographer all set to go, details provided for the event: on-site contact, run-of-event, specific shot needs and so on. A few hours out from the event, the photographer wrote me that he had suddenly began to feel very sick - flu-like symptoms that would make for poor event photography and potentially pass along sickness to the entire event! Clearly, the assigned photographer was not going to make the shoot. He needed to rest, recover and keep his germs all to himself.

If the unexpected happens, and you’ve hired an event photographer who has no back-up plan, this situation is a complete disaster. Either you as the client are scrambling to find someone or the flu-ridden photographer is texting a whole bunch of strangers to try to get the job covered.

Enter the JWCannon Creative difference. When you hire us, you’re hiring a creative team, as our very name suggests. We have a deep talent pool of photographers and videographers. We aren’t brand new to this industry, in fact our photographers boast decades of experience handling DFW event photography. That means when one photographer goes down with the flu, we have a whole team to call upon. And they aren’t the B team. They are the A team. They are the best of the best. The client worried zero about the illness of their previously scheduled photographer. They were busy prepping for the event, not needing any additional unexpected-s to be brought to their attention. We handled the unexpected with the ease that our clients have come to expect of us: calm, cool, collected.

Yesterday’s event was a great one. Our Dallas event photographer captured the event and portraits with creativity, an artistic eye and the brand needs of the client. That’s what happens when you choose JWCannon Creative. We are at the ready, no matter what happens. So book with us today. You’ll be sure thankful you did. After all, we expect the unexpected, and that makes us prepared for whatever comes our way!
