Dallas Event Photographers: Presenting… Presentations!

Dallas Event Photographers

Last week we discussed how much fun corporate conferences can be. From themed evening events to guest speakers to award shows that include big potential winnings for attendees - there’s much fun to be had at a corporate conference.

But as with everything in life, there are two sides to every coin. For every fun and entertaining moment of a corporate conference, there are also necessary trainings and presentations.

Our JWCannon Creative photographers boast decades of experience as Dallas event photographers. They know corporate conferences like the back of their hands. Their expertise and experience means they can photograph the presentations and trainings just as well as the parties and celebrations. After all, both are a critical part of the overall success of an event.

Now’s the time I give you a stern warning. This isn’t a frequent occurrence on our blog, but I feel it is a necessary one. Many so-called photographers can decently shoot a party. But… it takes true skill to shoot a presentation with precision and creativity. Why? Well, most photographers fail to capture the heart of a presentation. The images turn out less than stellar. There are a few rules to live and die by when you’re behind the camera at a conference presentation. Here are ours:

  1. Dallas event photographers must know lighting. Perhaps the thing that differentiates the best Dallas event photography from what looks like amateur hour is the photographer’s personal know-how with lighting. Photographing presentations separates the skilled from the unskilled. An unskilled photographer may for a time sneak under the radar. But when a presenter has a huge screen behind them and is backlit and small in comparison to the room and stage… the truly skilled Dallas event photographers start to emerge. Let me repeat! Must. Know. Light.

  2. Must convey dynamism. When someone looks at an image from a conference training session, they can’t hear the speaker. They don’t know the content. All they see is a still image from one single moment of the presentation. Therefore, it stands to reason that the image better sing all the high notes! Our DFW event photographers know exactly how to capture the dynamic moments from trainings that make viewers wish they had been there. Great conference photos leave people wondering… what was that presenter talking about in that moment? What information did he or share in the time they were given? How did they capture the audience’s attention?

  3. Must get the right moment. Make no bones about it, capturing a person speaking can be a dangerous business! Half closed eyes, strange mouth shapes, hands waving to convey a point. It is no easy task for a photographer to capture the exactly right moment where the speaker looks photo-ready but is actually in the middle of saying “each of you will be trained on this new platform…” If a photographer fails to capture the right moment, photos turn out virtually unusable. And nobody wants to pay for photography that they can’t use!
